The secret to Plant Based success is Sauces!
One key to successful Whole Food Plant Based living is Sauces! We truly can have all the enjoyment of delicious savory dishes without the Salt, Oil and Sugar. These 3 things are used in standard processed and pre-made foods (along with added chemicals/additives) to convince us that dishes ‘taste good’ but in reality they have limited nutritional value and are actually jeopardizing our health (and ending up on our waistlines!).
This dish is steamed wild rice with veggies and Sweet n Sour Sauce, super easy, no sugar, no oils, no salt and no additives.
Sweet n Sour sauce – Raw, vegan and so easy! Great warmed over zoodles, pasta, stir fried veggies or even served cold as salad dressing:
- 5 ripe tomatoes
- Small handful sundried tomatoes
- 4 cloves of garlic
- 1/3 of an onion
- 6 medjool dates
- 1T agar agar
- 1t cloves
- 2t cinnamon
- 2t red pepper flakes (more/less as desired)
- 1T sea veggies
- 4T lemon juice
Blend all together and add water to reach desired consistency. Add additional medjool dates or red pepper as desired for desired taste.
This makes approximately eight servings and keeps well in the fridge for a few days as the lemon helps preserve, or it can be frozen to enjoy at a later date.
